Lunch and Learn Parent Workshop held at Wenonah High School
On December 6, 2017, Joseph’s House, Incorporated (JHI) partnered with College Admissions Made Possible (C.A.M.P.) to host a lunch and learn for parents at Wenonah High School. Mr. Joseph Clark from Joseph’s House, explained to parents the fundamentals of his INSPIRE mentoring program, which takes place in selected Birmingham City High Schools compliments of GEAR UP Birmingham.
Representatives from C.A.M.P. discussed components of the early college advising sessions that they currently host for 9th and 10th graders across the BCS District, as well as test prep options for students looking to take the ACT. Guest Presenter, Latonya Thomas from BBVA Compass, shared financial tips for saving money with the parents, which also included how to finance a college education. Two lucky parents were the recipients of the $100.00 gift card and the $50.00 gift card, compliments of JHI. Parents enjoyed Pizza Hut pizza during the first of many Lunch and Learn parent workshops.
